Rozelle House

Rozelle House

Rozelle House Galleries are permanent home to a significant collection of 54 paintings by the renowned Scottish artist Alexander Goudie depicting the tale of Tam O' Shanter. This exhibition is in a grade A listed mansion house built by the architect Robert Adam in 1760 who also designed Culzean Castle the family seat of the Earls of Cassillis. The Tam O' Shanter exhibition has a labelled guide for children. The galleries are also the home to the Ayrshire Yeomanry Museum and Rozelle Craft House, which has a stock of local and national crafts of the highest quality. The house is set in 37 hectares of woodland, which originally belonged to the Hamilton family who also owned 3 estates in the West Indies. Rozelle was named after 1 of the Hamilton family estates in Jamaica. The Rozelle Estate plays host to various events throughout the year including the Ayr Flower Show the premier event of its kind in Scotland. Rozelle House Galleries are operated by South Ayrshire Council.
